Many individual enjoy credit perks that are available to them due to having a good credit history and credit score. One of the biggest perks of having an exceptional credit history are the reduced interest rates that many of the major credit card companies will offer to individuals whose credit rating is better than average. Interest rates that are low have the ability to save the credit card holder a great deal of money in the long run.
The interest rates that an individual is expected to pay for their credit is determined by the company that is issuing the credit card or lending agreement. The company that is extending the credit generally looks at several items to determine eligibility for their credit products; the individual’s credit history, the individual’s credit score, the amount of income that the individual earns annually, and the balance between how much credit the individual has available and how much credit the individual has used. By taking all of these items into account, the credit card company can determine whether you are eligible for credit from their company and what the interest rates for that credit should be.

For many individuals, obtaining an extended credit limit from a credit card company is not a difficult task to accomplish. An extended credit limit is generally issued to an individual from a credit card company that the individual is already doing business with, eliminating the need for lengthy applications or long waits for approval or denial. The company that is extending the credit limit of the customer already has a history with the customer and has decided that they would like to issue more credit to the customer.
An extended credit limit can be a good thing on many different levels. On one hand, the credit limit increase allows you to purchase more items and higher valued items with your credit card, and on the other hand, it demonstrates to other creditors that you use credit responsibly. After you have shown that you can use credit responsibly, other creditors will be less hesitant to issue more credit to you.

People exchange financial information every day. But giving out your credit card details to the wrong person can put you at risk for credit card fraud and identity theft. There are some situations in which it is important to never disclose financial information. This article examines some of the times when it makes sense to keep your financial life private.
First, never give out your credit card details to anyone who calls you on the phone. This may seem like obvious advice, but it’s easy to be tricked by people who say they are calling for a charity or by a telemarketer who offers something you really are interested in buying. Rather than giving your info out to a caller who could be trying to defraud you, however, it’s better to ask the caller to send you more information via the U.S. postal service. Most fraudulent callers won’t do this, since mail fraud carries stiff penalties. If you do receive the information, look it over at your leisure and make the donation or purchase on your own terms.

In today’s world, having a credit card is a luxury. Credit cards are a great convenience, meaning that you don’t need to worry about cash when making a purchase. Although some credit cards have strict requirements, there are a lot of manufacturers that are giving both high school and college students the chance to get their own credit cards. Student credit cards can be used the same way as a traditional credit card, although they do come with certain restrictions and limitations that other credit cards don’t normally have.
A lot of companies and banks that offer student credit cards will normally need a co-signer as a form of insurance or collateral. This person will sign on the loan with the student, and will be the person the company falls back on if the student is unable to pay the bill. Normally a parent or guardian, the co-signer is considered to be back up and a peace of mind for the issuer of the student credit card, as they can always count on the co-signer with good credit to pay if the student can’t.

One of the most important aspects of managing your credit is learning how to maintain it. This means learning how to maintain your credit report. Your credit report provides information on your current and past debts and how you have handled them. Lenders look at your credit report to determine whether or not you are a good “credit risk”—that is, to determine whether or not they should take a chance loaning money to you. A poor credit report can mean that you will be turned down for loans, or that you will pay a higher rate of interest than someone with a better credit report.
In the United States, three separate credit reporting agencies maintain credit reports on you: TransUnion, Experian, and Equifax.
The first step to maintaining your credit report is knowing what is on it. By federal law, you are entitled to a free copy of your credit report once every twelve months. You can request a free copy of your credit report online at www.annualcreditreport.com.
